Coal Crisis in India: Due to the cancellation of 1100 trains by the Railways for the next 20 days, the traders including the passengers will be very upset.

Both Mail Express and Passenger trains have been included in these trains. 500 trips of express trains, while 580 trips of passenger trains have been cancelled.
Due to the scorching heat, the demand for electricity has become very high across the country. In such a situation, there has also been a shortage of coal in many states. Because of this, there can be a big problem of power generation in power plants. To deal with this problem, now the Ministry of Railways has decided to cancel 1100 passenger trains for the next 20 days so that coal-laden goods trains can be removed faster.
On this matter, Railway Board Chairman VK Tripathi says that since last year, there has been an increase of 20 percent in the demand and consumption of coal. In April this year, 15 percent more coal has been transported in comparison to April 2021. The demand and consumption of coal has increased significantly as compared to last year. Therefore, more quantity of coal is being transported.
He said that additional coal rakes are being operated on higher priority as compared to mail and express trains. On this issue, Union Energy Minister RK Singh also believes that there is a shortage of coal in many states. He said that the import of coal has been affected due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Apart from this, it is being told that due to non-payment of dues to coal companies and strike in Jharkhand, coal crisis has arisen.

Due to this, people traveling to and from coal producing states like Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand are facing a lot of inconvenience. But such decisions are being taken so that the situation of power crisis does not arise, and the supply of coal can be as much as possible.
