This new option added to the payment gateway ensures that passengers pay only for confirmed tickets, and instant refund will be issued in case of ticket cancellation.
What is Auto Pay?
Auto Pay is a game-changing feature that has been added to the payment gateway of the IRCTC app and website. It allows passengers to book tickets without any instant payment deduction.
In short, money is deducted from the account only after the seat is confirmed. This means that even if the ticket remains on the waitlist, the passenger’s money remains in their account until it is confirmed.
How does Autopay work?
When booking tickets through the IRCTC app or website, users will see the Auto Pay option prominently at the top of the payment gateway. On selecting this feature, passengers no longer need to make advance payment.
Although the required amount is temporarily blocked, it is not deducted until the ticket confirmation is received. This eliminates the need to wait for a refund in case of cancellation or unconfirmed booking.
