Indian Railways: Ministry of Railways has decided to give concession in the fare of many trains including Vande Bharat train. A maximum discount of 25 per cent will be given on the fare.
Indian Railways: Ministry of Railways has given great relief to the passengers traveling by train. It has been decided to reduce the fare of Vande Bharat train and AC chair car trains. Ministry of Railways will give relaxation in the fare of trains with AC seating in view of traveling more passengers in trains. For concession, the Ministry will delegate the authority to the Zonal Railways.
How much will the fare be reduced
After this decision of the Ministry of Railways, the AC chair car, executive class fare of all trains including Vande Bharat will be reduced by 25 percent. This scheme will be applicable in AC chair car and executive class of all trains having AC seating facility including Vistadome coaches. The discount on fare will be up to a maximum of 25 per cent. On the other hand, other charges like reservation charge, super fast surcharge, GST etc., whatever they may be, will be levied separately. At the same time, relaxation can be given according to the category. Trains with 50 per cent occupancy during the last 30 days will be considered. After this, on the basis of occupancy, fare concession will be given in these trains.
When will the fare be reduced and how
Distance and fare will also be considered while giving discount on fare. The fare concession can be given in the first leg or the last leg or in the middle of the journey. However, the condition will be that the total occupancy in that section or phase is less than 50 percent. The discount will be implemented with immediate effect. However, no refund of fare will be given to the passengers who have already booked.
How long will the discount be given
The concession in fare will be applicable for a period as decided by the zonal officer, subject to a maximum of six months for the dates of journey from its effect. Concessional fare can be given for whole period or part or month or week or six months depending upon the demand.
In case of inter zonal O-D pairs or destination, discount KRCL, fare can be discounted in consultation with PCCM or MD or COM or CCM of other Zonal Railways. Further review will be done regularly and depending on the occupancy the exemption may be revised or extended or withdrawn. If a decision is taken to amend the exemption in the scheme, then it can also be implemented with immediate effect.
