What is E-ticket?

Let us tell you that e-ticket is a kind of electronic printed ticket. Any passenger can print this ticket according to his convenience. You can book this ticket sitting at home without going to the counter. It is booked online with the help of internet. It is considered as valid as the railway counter ticket. At present, those who travel through e-ticket should have their identity card with them.

What is I-ticket?

If we talk about I-ticket, then it is couriered by the Railways to the passenger’s address. This ticket is also booked through internet only. While being registered on the IRCTC website, this ticket is couriered to the given address. It takes about 48 hours for this ticket to arrive.

Difference between E-ticket and I-ticket-

>> E-ticket is printed by the passenger whereas I-ticket cannot be printed.
>> I-ticket is couriered by the Railways, whereas, you get the e-ticket immediately.
>> Delivery charge is also attached to I-ticket, due to which it is expensive.
>> I-ticket has to be booked two days in advance.
>> E-ticket can be booked same day.
>> Seat berth is confirmed or RAC in e-ticket.
>> Confirmed, RAC or waiting can be found in all three categories in I-ticket.
