Infosys is preparing to end work from home
According to media reports, Infosys has instructed its employees in the US and Canada to start working from the office. It states that if employees want to work from home, they will have to take special permission. The company has also said that if the employees do not follow the new work policy related to work from home, then disciplinary action will be taken against them. In the US and Canada, where this mandate has been introduced, Infosys has over 30,000 employees. The company has not mandated this policy of visiting office in India.
Infosys introduced the plan last year
Last year, Infosys introduced a three-stage plan for work from home. In the first stage, the company asked employees to come to the office twice a week either at their home locations in DC, the development center, or in a suburban city near DC. In the second stage, the company asked office workers who were based out of the DC cities to begin preparations over the next few months to return to their base development centers. However, last year, the company had said that in the long term, Infosys was planning to usher in a hybrid culture.
Employees are resigning due to the end of work from home
Milind Lakkad, head of the HR department of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), said that after the company abolished work from home, many resignations have been given by women employees. Lakkar said that although there could be other reasons, this is the first reason. He further insisted that the resignation of the women employees was not motivated by discrimination. TCS employs over 6,00,000 people out of which 35% are women.
