iPhone 16e vs iPhone 16: California tech company Apple has launched the affordable iPhone 16e on February 19. It is the next device in the company’s SE-lineup but the brand has now removed the SE branding. The new device has been made a part of the iPhone 16 lineup launched a few months ago. It is the cheapest model in the iPhone 16 series, although despite this the device has been launched at a premium price point. Let’s compare it with the flagship iPhone 16.
Design
The design of the new iPhone 16e is similar to the iPhone 14 model but some changes have been made to it. Instead of vibration toggle, the new phone has an action button. Like the iPhone 16, it also comes with a flat boxy design. Both the phones offer aluminum and glass build. The new iPhone 16e has been introduced in black and white colors, while the iPhone 16 can be purchased in ultramarine, teal, pink, white and black colors.
Display
Both the iPhone 16e and iPhone 16 have almost similar displays. They have a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display panel with 460ppi pixel density and features like True Tone, Wide Color (P3) or Haptic Touch. The big difference is that while the iPhone 16 has a dynamic island feature, the iPhone 16e has a standard notch.
Camera
Both the devices have a 48MP main sensor with Apple’s latest imaging technology. However, the iPhone 16 gets an extra ultrawide lens and some advanced photography features. If you want an iPhone to click good photos, then there is no shortage in the iPhone 16e. However, if you want benefits like zoom, wide shots and computational photography, then the iPhone 16 will be better.
Performance
When it comes to performance, both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16e have been given Apple’s new A18 chip. This chipset gives the advantage of excellent multitasking and power efficiency with a 6-core CPU. The difference is in the GPU of both the phones. While the iPhone 16 has a 5-core GPU, the iPhone 16e has a 4-core GPU. However, this gap will be negligible in real world performance. Also, both devices come with Apple Intelligence.
Battery Life
Apple claims that the iPhone 16e can get up to 26 hours of video playback time on a full charge. In comparison, the iPhone 16 gives 22 hours of video playback time. Overall, both devices are strong in terms of battery life.
Price
The new iPhone 16e has been launched in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 59,900. In comparison, the starting launch price of the iPhone 16 is Rs 79,900. Both the devices come in three storage options.
