Now booking train tickets has become easier. IRCTC, NPCI and CoRover have launched the Conversational Voice Payments Service for UPI at the Global Fintech Fest 2024. This new feature, which is integrated with payment gateways, allows Indian Railways customers to pay for train tickets on IRCTC by using their voice or by typing their UPI ID or mobile number on a call. All this work will be done through AskDISHA, an AI virtual assistant for Indian Railways. Customers will not only be able to book tickets by speaking but will also be able to make payments.

This is how the new feature works

When a mobile number is given, the conversational voice payment system automatically receives the corresponding UPI ID and initiates a payment request through the user’s default UPI app. To ensure a smooth and flexible payment experience, the feature also allows users to update their mobile number or UPI ID within the transaction time limit.

The companies say that the technology is “the first conversational voice payment system to enable payments to merchants using UPI.” The system not only eliminates language-related barriers but also makes transactions faster and more accessible than before.

The system uses the payment gateway’s API to ensure a smooth and secure transaction process along with CoRover’s voice-enabled BharatGPT. The system supports multi-lingual input, which means the system can work in Hindi, Gujarati and other languages.

NPCI has introduced this feature as innovation-driven. The feature allows users to choose from different payment options such as credit/debit cards, netbanking and wallets.

Tickets will be booked by voice

Apart from this, this conversational voice payment, equipped with UPI and BharatGPT, has also been integrated with AskDISHA, the AI virtual assistant for IRCTC and Indian Railways. Now users can book tickets and make payments just by using their voice, making the whole process easier, faster and more convenient.

Delhi Metro card being recharged through WhatsApp

The payment infrastructure in India is growing rapidly, companies are making the entire payment process easier by going digital. Delhi Metro has recently launched the Metro card recharge facility for metro passengers in the Delhi NCR region. Apart from this, using the same ticketing and chatbot services on WhatsApp, passengers can avail the Metro card recharge service in both English and Hindi by sending ‘Hi’ to the specific number or scanning the QR code.
