IT Companies Recruitment: Veteran IT companies like Infosys have said that they will not hire fresher students this year. Meanwhile, TCS COO, N Ganapathy Subramaniam said that the company is preparing to do a large number of campus placements in the current financial year.
Infosys Recruitment: A few days ago, lakhs of students were shocked after Infosys said that it will not recruit fresher students this year. On the other hand, now the country’s largest IT company TCS has announced hiring this year, giving relief to the students. TCS COO, N Ganapathy Subramaniam said that the company is preparing to appoint 40,000 freshers in the current financial year. Let us tell you that every year around 35,000 to 40,000 new employees are hired by TCS.
No plans for mass layoffs
Apart from this, TCS COO Subramaniam also emphasized that there is no plan for large-scale layoffs in the company. TCS is continuously moving forward with new appointments. Other leading companies in the IT sector are being careful in the matter of campus placement. Infosys surprised everyone by announcing that it would not conduct campus placements this year. Infosys CFO Nilanjan Roy had said in his statement that last year the company had hired 50,000 freshers. He said that campus hiring will not be done until the demand improves.
At present we are not going for campus hiring.
Subramaniam did not rule out any possibility of giving jobs through lateral entry. He clarified that Infosys’ hiring strategy is linked to demand. He also said that last year, 50000 youth were hired ahead of the demand… We still have such employees… We are training them in AI etc. At present we are not going to the campus… We will look into this every quarter considering our future projections. Subramaniam clearly said that recruitment will be done when the project comes.
Drastic decline in last 12 to 14 months
He said that when there is pressure to cut expenses, less number of employees are hired through lateral entry. There has been a huge decline in the last 12 to 14 months. We don’t know how long this will continue. Hiring more people than we needed to build one bench. The utilization rate of TCS is currently around 85 percent, which is marginally lower than the previous limit of 87-90 percent.
