The scheme was started in 2014: It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the launch of Jan Dhan Yojana in his Independence Day address in 2014. The scheme was launched on August 28 this year.

- To open a Jan Dhan account, you can submit documents that fulfill the Know Your Customer (KYC) requirement including Aadhar Card, Passport, Driving License.

- You do not have to pay any kind of fee or charges to open a Jan Dhan account.
