Jet fuel price hike: After the hike on the prices of jet fuel, air travel can now become expensive. Aircraft fuel prices increased by 5.3 percent on Monday. This is the 10th increase this year. The sharp rise in global energy prices has pushed the price of jet fuel to an all-time high. In such a situation, now air travelers can get a big setback.
Price hiked for the 10th time in a row
According to a notification issued by public sector oil companies, the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) in the national capital has increased by Rs 6,188.25 per kl or 5.29 per cent to Rs 1,23,039.71 per kl (Rs 123 per litre). This is the 10th increase in aircraft fuel prices this year.
According to a Mint report, 40 percent of the airline’s expenditure is on jet fuel. Flight tickets may become costlier due to the current hike. Jet fuel prices had increased by 18.3 per cent on March 16, then by 2 per cent on April 1. After this, again on May 1, the prices had increased by 3.22 percent.
Prices updated twice a monthÂ
Meanwhile, there was no change for the 41st day in a row after a record increase of Rs 10 per liter in the prices of petrol and diesel. Aircraft fuel prices are revised on the 1st and 16th of every month, while the rates of petrol and diesel are revised every day.
Petrol and diesel prices were increased by Rs 10 per liter between March 22 and April 6. Since then the prices have remained stable.
