A lot of traction was gained by Reliance’s JioFi router in the last year. According to CyberMedia Research, it was reported in September that in the April-June quarter, JioFi controlled a share of 91% in the data card market. This happened due to company’s popularity in offering its free data services. It led to pressure on rivals such as Vodafone, Airtel, Idea and others.
In 2016, the portable hotspot was launched. Up to 10 Wi-Fi-enabled devices can be supported by the device along with one via USB. The information about power, network strength, Wi-Fi status and more is provided by its OLED display. The device allows multiple users to access Jio 4G internet and create their personal Wi-Fi hotspots. Video calls, HD voice calls and messaging are also supported via the Jio4GVoice app.
