Krishi UDAN scheme has been launched to transport agricultural products across the country and abroad. Till now 53 airports have been connected to it. 

This scheme is transporting the produce of the farmers from here to there without any charges.

In order to take their crops to every nook and corner of the country in the Covid Mahamari, the Modi government has started a big campaign to help the farmers. Under this, first Kisan Special Trains were resorted to.

Through this, fruits, vegetables, milk and other everyday items are being supplied all over the country. After this the government brought the Udan Scheme (Ude Desh ka Aam Aadmi), under which the airport was interconnected. Then the Krishi Udan Scheme was started to send the produce of the farmers through this.

What is Krishi Udan Scheme

Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh said that 53 airports are connected with this scheme. This scheme was launched in August 2020. It is also working on International Route along with Domestic. Through this, farmers are sending their produce from here to there. Due to this they are getting good price for their produce.

When did Udan 2.0 start?

VK Singh told Parliament that Krishi UDAN 2.0 was announced in October 2021. It mainly focused on transporting produce that could be spoiled quickly from hilly areas, north-eastern states and tribal areas.

Where are the airports connected?

Mainly, this scheme covers 25 airports in North-Eastern Region, Hilly and Tribal Area like Agartala, Agatti, Barapani, Dehradun, Dibrugarh, Dimapur, Gaggal, Imphal, Jammu, Jorhat, Kullu (Bhuntar), Leh, Lengpui, Lilabari, It was operating from Pakyong, Pantnagar, Pithoragarh, Port Blair, Raipur, Ranchi, Rupsi, Shimla, Silchar, Srinagar and Tezu airports.

28 new airports

VK Singh said that after this 28 more airports were added. These include Adampur (Jalandhar), Agra, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bareilly, Bhuj, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Goa, Gorakhpur, Hindon, Indore, Jaisalmer, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kanpur (Chakeri), Kolkata, Nashik, Pathankot, Patna, Prayagraj, Pune. , Rajkot, Tezpur, Trichy, Trivandrum, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam.

Farmers who are sending their crops, vegetables and other agricultural products through Udan Scheme. They do not have to pay any charge for sending it. For example, farmers are exempted from landing, parking, terminal navigation landing charges (TNLC) and route navigation facility charges (RNFC).

how much did you send

A total of 1,08,479 metric tonnes of cargo (international + domestic) were dispatched at Airport Authority of India airports in the financial year 2021-22 (till 28 February 2022). In the financial year 2020-21, this figure was 84,042 metric tonnes. (with PIB input)
