The Meteorological Department (IMD) said that conditions will remain favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into Kerala by the end of the week. If the Southwest Monsoon starts over Kerala by the end of this week, it will be for the first time in recent years. Earlier in 2009, the monsoon had reached Kerala on 23 May.

Earlier, the Meteorological Department had predicted the arrival of monsoon in Kerala by May 27 five days ago. Normally monsoon reaches Kerala on 1st June.

. Nagaon is the worst affected district where 3.31 lakh people are affected. Presently, 1,790 villages are submerged and crops in 63,970.62 hectares have been destroyed. Army, paramilitary forces, NDRF, SDRF, civil administration and trained volunteers are engaged in relief and rescue operations.

Tripura airport limits fuel supply to planes

The Maharaja Bir Bikram airport here in Tripura has limited the delivery of ‘Aviation Turbine’ fuel (ATF) to aircraft, following the loss of connectivity with Assam due to floods and landslides. If the fuel supply at Agartala airport is limited, the current stock may last 13-14 days. Airport director Rajiv Kapoor said, “This ban is for a few days till railway service and road connectivity is restored.”

Strong winds expected in Delhi today

According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon can knock prematurely in Delhi and its surrounding areas. On the other hand, strong winds are expected in the capital on Friday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information. Meanwhile, the heat wave continues in the national capital. The Meteorological Department has predicted a partly cloudy day on Friday with the possibility of rain and thundershowers in the evening. According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds will blow at a speed of 20-30 kilometers per hour on Friday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 44 degree Celsius and 29 degree Celsius respectively.
