Maharsahtra News: Mumbai Metro One Private Limited, which operates the Metro service on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar route in Mumbai, on Thursday launched ‘e-ticketing on WhatsApp’ facility.
There is good news for the people of Mumbai. Those who travel in Mumbai Metro will not have to wait much for tickets. Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL), which now operates the Metro service on the
Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar route in Mumbai, on Thursday launched the ‘e-ticketing on WhatsApp’ facility. MMOPL claimed in a release that the Mumbai Metro One messaging app is the first MRTS (Mass Rapid Transit System) in the world to offer e-tickets on WhatsApp.
Also, Mumbai Metro One Private Limited said that this is an extension of the ‘Paper QR Ticket’ currently available through the ticket counter.
To use this facility, passengers will have to send
a message by typing ‘Hi’ to the number 9670008889. This metro service, running since 2014, Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar is the first metro route in Mumbai. 2,60,000 people travel daily in Mumbai Metro One. Along with this, Mumbai Metro One Private Limited also claimed that it has adopted many technological means like bank combo cards, mobile QR tickets and loyalty programs.
Along with this, work is being done to further improve the public transport service of Mumbai, so that people do not get inconvenienced.
Earlier, Mumbai’s public transport service had ordered the purchase of 1,900 electric buses to be included in its transport fleet in an effort to phase out its old buses that run on fuel.
The Maharashtra government had taken this decision keeping in mind the rising petrol diesel prices and the increasing pollution in the old buses running on the fuel.
