Federal Bank has launched National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) Integrated Debit Card. National Common Mobility Card is a facility introduced on RuPay contactless debit card that allows cardholders to make payments at metro stations, buses etc. in offline mode by tapping the card on the card reader. Federal Bank said that this initiative is a step towards streamlining the travel experience by making payments digital.

To activate NCMC and start using the card for offline transactions, cardholders are required to enable the ‘Contactless Feature’ through Mobile Banking, Internet Banking or IVR. After activating it, users can visit the customer service desk at metro stations to initiate the activation and load money on the card through the existing savings account.
The top up limit of the card is Rs 2,000.
The maximum top up limit for card balance has been fixed at Rs 2,000. Users can load the card balance through multiple channels, including cash transactions at authorized transit points or linking the card to their savings or current account.
Balance information on the offline wallet can be inquired at the POS terminals of some transport operators and customers can update their balance after performing ‘Add Money’ transaction through the e-channels of the Bank.
Offline transactions will happen like this
For offline transactions, customers will have to activate the offline wallet, maintain a required balance and tap the card at the entry and exit gates of the metro stations. Automatic Fare Calculator (AFC) will deduct the fare from the offline wallet. The maximum limit for offline transactions has been fixed at Rs 200.
