These days, more and more features are being added to cars, so buyers are considering the mid variant to be more value for money as it has basic features as well as many essential features.
Mahindra XUV 3XO and Maruti Suzuki Swift Bookings: With a huge surge in bookings for recently launched cars, especially Swift and XUV 3XO, an interesting trend has emerged and that is buyers are preferring the middle variants over the top-end ones. Swift and XUV 3XO have received 40,000 and 50,000 bookings in a short span of time, with customers preferring the mid-spec variants more.
More features at a lower price
Talking about Swift, the demand for VXI variant is more due to its lower price compared to the top-end ZXI variant. The top-end ZXI and ZXI+ are priced at Rs 8.3 and 9 lakh, while the VXI is priced at Rs 7.3 lakh. The AX5 and AX5L variants of XUV 3XO are also more popular due to their low price. It seems that the standard features in cars, especially safety equipment, are increasing, but now more features are also available in mid-spec variants.
Why has the demand for mid-spec variants increased?
With cars getting more and more features these days, buyers are finding mid variants to be more value for money as they have the basics as well as the essentials. Unlike earlier times, manufacturers are adding features and offering more options from the mid-spec trims itself. There are some cars that have too many variants which confuse buyers and tap different segments.
However, with these two new launches and other popular cars, the mid variants are the most popular ones which attract a large market and also fit within the budget of new car buyers. We feel that a variant lower than the top-end trim is the best as it offers the best combination of price and features. However, it also depends on individual cars. But with manufacturers better preparing their cars, the mid variant remains the best option for now.
