On Wednesday, RBI said, “By October 31, 2023, only 97% of the notes have been returned. There is still an amount of about Rs 0.10 lakh crore left in the market.”

RBI said, “The facility of deposit and exchange of ₹2000 notes will be available in 19 issue offices of RBI. The public is requested to avail the facility of sending ₹2000 notes through post office ( India Post ).” The Central Bank further said, “By sending notes through Indian Post, one will get rid of the hassle of going to the office.”
This much amount is available in the market
The deadline for exchanging Rs 2000 notes was October 7. However, earlier it was fixed till 30th September only. Despite this, only 97% of the notes have been returned till October 31, 2023. There is still an amount of about Rs 0.10 lakh crore left in the market.
