Today, from April 1, 2025, new rules of UPI have come into effect, due to which you may face some problem in making payment. Actually, NPCI has instructed all the banks to remove such mobile numbers which are inactive for a long time. Due to these new rules, the bank may have removed your old mobile number as well.

Unified Payments Interface i.e. UPI has made digital payment much easier today. Through UPI today, you can transfer money directly from your bank account to any person or businessman, which is a very easy and fast way to send money, but if today you are facing problem in making payment through Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm and the transaction is failing repeatedly, then there is no need to worry at all. Actually, today, from April 1, 2025, new rules of UPI have come into effect, due to which you may face some problem in making payment. Let us tell you that NPCI has instructed all banks to remove such mobile numbers which have been inactive for a long time. The purpose of bringing this new rule is to prevent cyber fraud and cheating.

No one will be able to misuse your number

NPCI says that the phone numbers which are not in use for a long time and have now been issued to someone else by the telecom companies, will be removed from the banking system. Yes, due to this no other person will be able to misuse your old mobile number.

This can be the reason for UPI payment failure

Due to the implementation of the new rules of UPI, the mobile number linked to your bank account may have been removed. In such a situation, if your phone number has been transferred to someone else by the telecom company, then now you will not be able to make payment. Due to the new rules of NPCI, the bank may have removed your old number. In such a situation, the question now is what is the solution to this? So let’s know this too

If payment is not happening then do this

Check the number registered in the bank

First of all, go to your bank branch or use net banking and mobile banking to check whether your correct number is linked with the bank or an inactive mobile number is linked.

If you have an old number, then update it

Now if you have been confirmed that an old inactive number is linked with your bank, then in this case, go to your bank as soon as possible and get the new number updated.

Register in UPI app

After getting the number updated from the bank, register again in the UPI app and enter the new number for verification request. By doing this, your UPI will start working smoothly again.
