Old Pension Scheme: Central government’s big decision on ‘old pension scheme’, instructions given to state governments, they will get benefits, will be eligible

There is good news for the employees. They will get the benefit of the old pension scheme. Instructions have been given by the Central Government to all the State Governments in big preparation. At the same time, it will be mandatory to complete the process by November.

Old Pension Scheme, OPS 2023: A big update has come out on the old pension scheme. The Central Government has given instructions to all the State Governments. Under the issued instructions, it has been said that those employees who have joined the government service on or after December 22, 2003 or January 1, 2004 and are covered under NPS. They can be given the benefit of the old pension scheme. The Central Government, while directing the State Government, said that the All India Service employees may be given a one-time option. In which the employees who joined the vacant posts advertised before the notification for implementation of NPS will be covered under the provisions of the old pension scheme.

Issued orders

In the issued instructions, it is clearly stated that the employees can avail the lump sum option till 30 November. At the same time, orders will be issued to the employees to take advantage of the old pension scheme by January 31, 2024. After that their NPS accounts will be closed by March 31, 2024.

These will be the rules

A. A letter has been written by the Department of Personnel and Training to the Chief Secretary of all the State and Union Territories on 13th July. Through that letter it was said that AIS officers, who have been appointed against any post vacant or which have been advertised or scheduled for recruitment earlier. Not only this, the notification date of NPS is December 22, 2003 and should have been covered under NPS on joining service on or after January 1, 2004. They may be given one time option to cover OPS under the provisions of All India Services Act 1958.

They will get benefit

The letter clearly states that AIS members selected through Civil Services Examination 2003, Civil Services Examination 2004 and Indian Forest Service Examination 2003 will be covered under these provisions. Only they will get the benefit of the old pension scheme.

B. Also the members of the service, who were selected in the service of the Central Government before joining the All India Service and were covered under the CCS Pension Rules 1972 or any other similar rule. He is eligible to be given option to be covered under the provision of old pension scheme under IS DCRB Rules dated 3rd March 2003 of DOPP&W. The option exercised by the member of the service shall be placed before the Government of the State in whose cadre the member of the service belongs.

Complete the work by 30 November

In such a situation, all those employees who want to join the old pension scheme. He can exercise the option on this till 30 November. Orders will be issued to give the benefits of the old pension scheme to all the eligible employees collected by January 2024. With this, their accounts in NPS will be closed by March 31, 2024.

Scheme implemented here

Let us inform that earlier the old pension scheme has been implemented in the Congress ruled state. Apart from Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, the old pension scheme has been implemented in Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, whereas in Punjab, the old pension scheme was also implemented by the Aam Aadmi Party government. Even in Karnataka, the old pension was used in the assembly elections. At the same time, in Madhya Pradesh too, the Congress has announced to implement the old pension scheme.
