Old Pension Scheme, Employees OPS: There is big news for the employees. They will get the benefit of the old pension scheme. For this, an order has been issued by the Union Ministry of Personnel. At the same time, time till August has been made available to the employees. Everyone has been instructed to complete the process by August 31.
Big gift to the employees, will get the benefit of OPS
Thousands of employees of the country will be given a big gift. The letter has been issued by Sanjeev Narayan, Additional Secretary, Union Ministry of Personnel. On the basis of the letter, efforts have been started by the Personnel Department of Uttar Pradesh. By December 22, 2023, on the basis of the advertisement for recruitment, the employees who got the job will be given the benefit of the old pension scheme. He will be entitled to it. For this, the facility has been given to choose the option till 31 August.
Old pension system abolished since 2004
The old pension system has been abolished in the country since January 2004. At the same time, the new pension scheme was implemented. Due to this, 10 percent is deducted from the salary of the employees, while there is no GPF facility in the new pension. This was arranged in the old pension. In the old pension, there was a system of giving pension according to the salary after retirement, while in the new pension system, pension is paid to the employees according to the money in the market.
Personnel Department’s order issued
On one hand in the country where the demand for the old pension scheme has once again intensified. On the other hand, relief has been given by the Union Ministry of Personnel by issuing an order to give benefits of the old pension scheme to the employees who were in service till 2003. According to the Personnel Ministry’s letter, personnel of the Central Armed Forces have not been included in this purview. In the letter sent by the Ministry, a copy is being sent to all the departments related to it including the Personnel Department of Uttar Pradesh. Due to which the employees coming under its purview will be able to take the option till 31 August 2023.
The same option will be taken to the officers and employees coming under the old pension scheme, who are eligible to exercise the officer employee option but do not exercise this option till the due date. They will not get the benefit of the old pension scheme. Officer employees coming by option who fulfill the condition of coverage under the Old Pension Scheme Rule 1972. By issuing orders to them by October 31, 2023, their NPS accounts will be closed and it will be mandatory for them to subscribe to GPF.
Adjustment amount will be sent to GPF account
The amount of contribution of employees in their account will be adjusted in their GPF account only. It has been clarified in the letter of the Union Ministry of Personnel that the employees who have been appointed after January 2004 on the basis of advertisement released for recruitment till 22 December 2003 will be entitled to the old pension scheme. The same such employees are continuously receiving representations for the old pension scheme.
Along with this, various courts and Central Administrative Tribunal are also issuing orders regarding old pension to such officers and employees. Due to which it was considered to give the benefit of old pension to the officers and employees by taking the option.
