Passport New Rule: Big news! Big change regarding passport application process, new rule apply.

An important change has been made in the process of making passport, which is going to be implemented from 5th August. Now verification can be done under this.

Passport New Changes: A major change has been made in the passport application process for international travel. Applicants will now have to use the government platform DigiLocker to apply for a new passport. All the documents have to be uploaded using DigiLocker. Once the documents are uploaded, applicants can apply online through the official website passportindia.gov.in.

No need to carry a copy of the document

Information has been given by the Ministry of External Affairs that if the applications use DigiLocker to upload their documents, then they will not be required to carry hard copies of any documents during the application process. This step will also reduce the processing time and is expected to increase the quality of passport application process.

Why was this rule brought

DigiLocker has been introduced in the passport application process to speed up the application process. Simultaneously, Passport Seva Kendras and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK) have been implemented in various regions to reduce the need for physical document verification.

What is DigiLocker?

DigiLocker is a digital wallet service provided by the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information. Under this, users can collect and keep all the documents issued by the government in a safe manner and can also access it when needed. Driver’s license, vehicle registration certificate, educational marksheet and other documents can be stored under DigiLocker.

Can keep from Aadhaar to Passport

The Ministry has now also allowed the use of Aadhaar documents through DigiLocker for online application submission. Any type of certificate, PAN card, Aadhaar card, passport and voter ID card can be kept safely on DigiLocker.

How to use DigiLocker?

To open a DigiLocker account, users have to register with a mobile number and this number should already be linked to Aadhaar. Users will be sent a One-Time Passcode (OTP) on the linked mobile number while logging in to the DigiLocker account. On the other hand, if you want to make any changes in DigiLocker, then you will have to make changes in Aadhaar.
