Protest Against Reduced Prices: 4,900 petrol pumps will remain closed in Madhya Pradesh for two hours to protest against the ‘loss’ to dealers due to excise duty cut. 

Reduced Prices of Petrol and Diesel: A business organization in Madhya Pradesh announced on Tuesday, claiming a loss of about Rs 150 crore to dealers due to the Central Government’s reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel. That fuel will not be sold to common customers in the state from 7 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday.

Paras Jain, Vice President of Federation of Madhya Pradesh Petroleum Dealers Association gave this information. Jain said, “Due to reduction in excise duty on petrol-diesel by the government, the dealers of the state have suffered a loss of about Rs 150 crore on the old stock of fuel as these goods have already been sold at higher rates. Excise duty has been paid.

Jain demanded that the government should return the difference between the old and new excise duty on petrol and diesel to the dealers and the commission they get on the sale of fuels should also be increased. He told that during the protest of petroleum dealers, business will be stalled at about 4,900 fuel pumps in the state from 7 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday.

It is worth noting that in view of the impact on common life due to the ever-increasing prices of fuels, the government on May 21 reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 8 and Rs 6, respectively. A reduction of up to liter was announced.
