Jain said, “Due to reduction in excise duty on petrol-diesel by the government, the dealers of the state have suffered a loss of about Rs 150 crore on the old stock of fuel as these goods have already been sold at higher rates. Jain demanded that the government should return the difference between the old and new excise duty on petrol and diesel to the dealers and the commission they get on the sale of fuels should also be increased. He told that during the protest of petroleum dealers, business will be stalled at about 4,900 fuel pumps in the state from 7 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday.

It is worth noting that in view of the impact on common life due to the ever-increasing prices of fuels, the government on May 21 reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 8 and Rs 6, respectively. A reduction of up to liter was announced.
