Postpaid Plans Price Hike: There may be a stir in the postpaid segment of the Indian telecom market as Jio, Airtel and Vi have all made their postpaid plans expensive. Now subscribers will have to spend up to 25 percent more for them.

Postpaid Plans Price Hike: If you use a postpaid SIM, then there is bad news for you. Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) all companies have increased the prices of their postpaid plans from 12 percent to 25 percent and subscribers will have to pay more. Companies have made plans expensive according to the package. For example, the monthly plan of Rs 399 has now become Rs 449 and it has been increased by Rs 50.

Telecom companies have increased their plans at different times instead of increasing the price simultaneously, due to which most subscribers did not even notice the change in the bill. Now the bill for the months of October and November is being sent according to the new price. Apart from this, 18 percent GST has to be paid separately on postpaid plans. This is the reason why the cost of postpaid SIM has increased after the change in price.

These subscribers will be directly affected

There are more than 120 crore mobile users in India and 12 percent of them use postpaid services. That means 13 to 14 crore users who are using postpaid connections will have to loosen their pockets. Telecom companies offer additional benefits and facilities like data rollover with postpaid plans, which makes postpaid plans better for subscribers who use more internet in urban areas.

Of course, the price of the cheapest plan has increased by Rs 50, but if seen with GST, this cost is more. To understand by example, if someone had chosen a plan of Rs 399, then after GST, he will now have to pay around Rs 530. Similarly, if the cost of a premium plan was around Rs 1,059 earlier, then now the subscriber will have to spend around Rs 1,129 every month.

Tariff plans were made expensive in July

It will be remembered that in the month of July this year, Jio, Airtel and Vi all increased the prices of their tariff plans by 25 to 40 percent. The companies had made the plans expensive citing the technology related to 5G rollout and the cost incurred on it. After this, a new trend was seen that users are choosing BSNL and the user base of other companies has seen a decline.

This is the reason why companies are offering special plans for selected postpaid subscribers, so that their postpaid subscriber base is not affected.
