Apart from gold, people also believe equally in creating property . Irrespective of the type of land, its value increases with time. But do you know that in India, cultivable land can be purchased only up to a  limit .

It is not that a person can buy as much land as he wants. However, the maximum limit for purchasing land in India depends on different states and there is no uniform law throughout the country.

States have different rules for this. Limit has been imposed on this in most of the states. However, there is no such rule regarding non-agricultural land. For example, in Haryana you can buy any amount of non-cultivable land  . But, here we will tell about cultivable land.

The maximum limit is different

After abolishing the Zamindari system in India, many changes were made. Some changes took place at the national level while some were given to the states. Therefore, the maximum limit for purchasing land is also different in every state. Apart from this, it is also the state that decides who can buy agricultural land.

Some states and limits on purchasing land

In Kerala, under the Land Amendment Act 1963, an unmarried person can buy land up to 7.5 acres only. At the same time, a family of 5 members can buy up to 15 acres of land. Cultivable land in Maharashtra will be bought only by those who are already in cultivation. The maximum limit here is 54 acres. A maximum of 24.5 acres of land can be purchased in West Bengal.

32 acres of land can be purchased in Himachal Pradesh. In Karnataka also you can buy 54 acres of land and here also the rule of Maharashtra is applicable. In Uttar Pradesh, a person can buy a maximum of 12.5 acres of cultivable land. In Bihar, agricultural or non-cultivable land can be purchased only up to 15 acres. In Gujarat, agricultural land can be purchased only by people engaged in that profession.

These people cannot buy agricultural land

NRIs or Overseas Citizens cannot buy cultivable land in India. He cannot even buy a farm house or plantation property. However, if someone wants to give them land as inheritance, they can do so.
