- Will be able to travel only after getting the green signal from the government
- Railway board approval will be taken before running every train
To prevent the spread of corona virus, the Modi government has put a nationwide lockdown for 21 days, which will run till April 14. All are closed from train to plane due to lockdown. Meanwhile, after the end of the lockdown, the railways have started considering preconceptions for the people traveling on the train.
Under this, steps like wearing masks, checking health through the Arogya Setu app and maintaining social distancing are being considered before traveling on the train. Thermal screening of passengers is also being discussed. However, it has not been decided yet from when will the passenger train service be restored?
Officials say that passenger trains will be run in a phased manner only after getting the green signal from the government.
Railways may take a decision next week
According to officials, a decision will be taken next week on how to restore the passenger train service. Officials say that the railways have discussed that each passenger train will run only after getting special approval from the Railway Board. Right now, the Railway Board has to give suggestions on the plan to run the train in a phased manner from the railway zone.
A senior railway official told that this is a very sensitive time. At the moment we are not considering from the perspective of revenue. Right now our focus is on protecting passengers and preventing the spread of corona virus. After getting the green signal by the government, the train service will be restored at the appropriate time. However, we have not taken any decision in this regard yet.
The areas where lockdown will be removed, only trains will run
Apart from this, railway zone officials are identifying those trains and routes where train service will be restored after getting approval of Railway Board. However, it is not yet clear how long the lockdown will open and in what way? If after April 14, the lockdown is removed from only some areas, then only those areas will run trains.
Prohibition on rent concession will apply
At present, there is also no scope for the Railways to cancel its order of 19 March, under which the concession in passenger fares was banned. Except the patients, students and the disabled, the railways has banned all other types of concessions. It is believed that the ban on railway concessions will continue, so that people can be stopped from making unnecessary travel.
