This news spread rapidly among the beneficiaries and in many districts there were lines of people to surrender the ration card. After this, it was clarified by the Uttar Pradesh government that no order has been given to surrender or cancel the ration card.

Food Commissioner of the state denied the news going on in the media. After this latest order of the government, those people who were taking advantage of free ration on ration card have breathed a sigh of relief.

as misleading and false. He said that Ration Card Verification is a normal process. This is a normal process from time to time by the government. Misleading reports related to ration card surrender and new eligibility conditions are being circulated in the media.

It was told by the government that the ‘eligibility / ineligibility criteria of domestic ration cards were set in 2014’. No changes were made after that. It was also told that the ration card holder cannot be declared ineligible on the ground of having pucca house, electricity connection or sole weapon license holder or motor cycle owner and engaged in poultry/cow rearing.

No order on recovery

It was also told that (according to the National Food Security Act-2013) there is no provision for recovery from ineligible cardholders. Related to recovery from government level or Food Commissioner’s office No order issued.
