Ration Card Rules:  The Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department has issued a strict warning to people holding Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration cards. It has also been said that those who are ineligible should surrender their cards, otherwise action can be taken against them.

Let us tell you that the government body has found that even financially strong individuals including government officials and pensioners were taking advantage of the free rice and wheat.

The Government of India has said that it will provide free ration to 81.3 crore poor under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) by December 2023. Under NFSA the government currently provides 5 kg of food grains per person per month at ₹2-3 per kg.

Families covered under Anthodia Anna Yojana (AAY) get 35 kg of grains per month. Under NFSA, poor persons are given rice at ₹3 per kg and wheat at ₹2 per kg.

What if the ration card is not returned?

Actually, here you should know the rules first. Let us tell you that if a person has a 100 square meter plot of his own, then he will not be covered under the free ration scheme and in such a case he will have to produce his ration card. At the same time, if you do not surrender the ration card and the investigation is done, then the food department team can cancel the card. Apart from this, action can also be taken against people who have wrongly adopted ration cards.

These people are also ineligible.

If someone has a car/tractor, arms license, annual income is more than Rs 2 lakh in village and Rs 3 lakh in city, then such people also cannot get free ration. If someone wants to return his ration card, he can surrender it in the tehsil or DSO office. Apart from this, it has also come to light that cards have not been made for many eligible needy families.
