NCRTC is developing India’s first Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS). It is a high speed regional passenger transport rail system. The first such train will run on the Sarai Kale Khan-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor.

Equipped with modern facilities, this train was handed over to NCRTC at Alstom’s plant in Sanwali, Gujarat. Alstom India handed over the keys of the train to NCRTC. Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, was also present on the occasion.

According to NCRTC officials, these trains will be the fastest running in India. They have been made in such a way that their maximum speed will be 180 kmph, operating speed 160 kmph and average speed will be 100 kmph.

Under RRTS, the first phase of 17 km can be started by 2023. Also, operations on the entire corridor are expected to start by 2025.

The special thing is that this train has been completely made in India. At present, nothing has been decided regarding the fare between Delhi-Meerut. But it is being said that the fare will be fixed keeping in mind the convenience and revenue of the passengers.

On this occasion, Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said in his video message that this new era transit system will also be helpful in managing the rapid urbanization. He expressed hope that the first phase of this project will start on its scheduled time. (with language input)
