The retirement age for all PSU employees was increased from 58 to 60 years. However, KSEB, KSRTC and KWA employees were excluded.

The state government has taken a big decision for the employees. Actually, the retirement age of the employees was increased by 2 years. Subsequently, the retirement age of all PSU employees was increased from 58 to 60 years. However, there was continuous protest over this decision of the government. Now taking a big decision, the government has withdrawn its decision. This has dealt a big blow to the employees.

Actually the central government had to withdraw its decision, this decision has been withdrawn due to protests. Efforts are on to increase the retirement age continuously in the public sector, but now after the uproar of the opposition, the government has taken a U-turn on its decision. The opposition says that the government is cheating the youth by raising the retirement age. Their job opportunities are being snatched away.

Earlier on Wednesday, a statement was issued by the Chief Minister’s Office. In which it was said that the order to increase the retirement age of public sector undertaking employees has been stayed in the cabinet meeting. Further course of action in this matter will be decided.

Earlier the retirement age for all PSU employees was increased from 58 to 60 years. However, KSEB, KSRTC and KWA employees were excluded. Further, this increase was not to be applicable to those employees who have already attained retirement.

In fact, the organization had expressed strong displeasure over this decision of the government. Leader of Opposition in the matter VD Satisan has termed the latest decision of the government as a victory of the opposition and urged the government to withdraw the order completely. He said that the move to raise the retirement age is wrong and will lead to uncertainty in the employment sector. Earlier it was recommended by the expert committee that the retirement age of all state PSU employees should be raised to 60 years.
