The RRTS corridors were conceived with the goal of significantly cutting travel time between the national capital and other key cities in the NCR region
The RAPIDX, India’s first rapid rail train, is expected to be inaugurated next week most likely scheduled during the Navratri festival. The train will run on the RRTS corridor between Delhi and Meerut.
According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to flag off the first train on the 17-km priority stretch in Ghaziabad. The inaugural train may also be piloted by women, making it the first such move in the country.
According to a Times of India report, the entire 82-km-long Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor is expected to be fully operational by 2025.
The NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which is implementing the project between Delhi and Meerut will also debut its mobile app “RAPIDX CONNECT” on this occasion along with indigenously manufactured platform screen corridor.
The NCRTC is expected to show off the forthcoming Sarai Kale Khan terminus in Delhi, which would serve as the hub for all future Regional Rail Train System (RRTS) routes connecting Panipat and Alwar.
The RAPIDX will be India’s fastest urban transit system matching the 180 kmph planned speed of the Vande Bharat, which is designed for a broad gauge.
