Safest Car List: Customers’ concerns about car safety in India have increased more than before. Now customers are looking for safer and better safety rating cars in the market.
Safest Car List: In India, there is a boom in sales in the auto market during the festive season. During Diwali, there is a tradition of buying new vehicles in the country. During this time, car manufacturers also come up with great offers, discounts and other discounts for customers. If you are also planning to buy a new car during the festive season and car safety is your priority, then we have brought a list for you. This is a list of cars that have proved to be the safest cars in the crash tests of GNCAP and BNCAP.
In this list of cars, we have prepared a list of 10 highly rated vehicles according to the latest crash safety standards of Global NCAP. Also, all those vehicles have been included in it which have been tested by India NCAP so far. Global NCAP has not tested many vehicles following its latest crash security standard. Therefore, many with good safety ratings are not included in this list. However, Global NCAP has tested some vehicles before updating its crash test standards.
It can be clearly seen in the list given below that Tata Motors has emerged as a leading car manufacturer in terms of vehicle safety. Tata company’s Safari, Harrier and Nexum have all scored a full 5 stars. Apart from this, these are the only Tata cars that have crossed the 30 point limit in adult passenger safety rating.
Apart from Tata, companies making cars with good safety ratings include names like Skoda and Volkswagen. The portfolio based on the MQB A0 IN platform includes Kushaq and Taigun SUVs as well as Virtus and Slavia sedans. These vehicles have also received 5 star crash ratings.
Hyundai Verna’s 5 star crash rating was quite surprising, given that the company was not known for good crash safety ratings. With Verna, Hyundai has broken its old image and secured a better position in the list. Another company that is known for its improved safety ratings, Mahindra’s Scorpio N comes with a 5-star adult rating and a 3-star child safety rating under the updated GNCAP crash test safety standard.
Vehicles like the Tata Punch, Tata Altroz, Mahindra XUV300 (now XUV3XO), XUV700 have achieved excellent 5-star crash ratings under the old GNCAP standard. Notably, the Mahindra Thar (3-door), Tata Tiago and Tigor, Renault Kiger, Triber and Nissan Magnite had achieved respectable 4-star ratings under the old GNCAP norms.

India NCAP
So far, India NCAP, which operates under the new standard, has analysed the crash performance of seven vehicles. The list of these cars includes the Safari/Harrier, Punch EV, Nexon EV, Nexon ICE, Curve EV and Tata Motors’ Curve ICE and then the recently crash tested Citroen Basalt. Tata’s car has scored a full 5-star crash rating for both adult and child occupant safety in crash tests conducted under Bharat NCAP standards. The results of Nexon ICE, Curve ICE and Curve EV crash tests have been announced recently.
The most surprising result among all these cars has come from the Citroen Basalt, which has scored a respectable 4 stars in the crash test. Situated on the CMP skateboard like other affordable C-cubed vehicles, the Basalt was expected to get a 0-star rating in the Global NCAP test. Proving all these speculations wrong, the Basalt has scored 4 stars in adult and child occupant safety. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Nissan Magnite facelift have passed the Bharat NCAP crash test and their results are awaited.
