For this, a grant of Rs 1132.04 crore has been approved. With the approval of the budget for the entire year for the university, the process of payment will be started in the coming month. A grant of Rs 251.56 crore has been issued for the salary of June-July to teachers including staff professors.
Grant of Rs 251.56 crore released
According to officials, the education department of the Bihar government has given a grant of Rs 251.56 crore for two months’ salary of teachers, professors and employees in university colleges and minority-aided institutions late on Friday night. Patliputra University has been given the highest allocation of Rs 38.64 crore for 2 months while Rs 31.017 crore was released to Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University Muzaffarpur. An amount of Rs 29.98 crore has been allocated for LN Mithila University Darbhanga while Rs 28.90 crore has been allocated for Magadh University Bodh Gaya.
Payment of salary and pension from the month of June and July

Earlier, a grant of Rs 281.91 crore was released by the government on Wednesday for pension payment. Not only this, the state government has approved an annual budget of Rs 1230.22 crore for the financial year 2023-24. According to the letter of Higher Education Director Rekha Kumari, a grant of Rs 1132.05 crore has also been approved for the salary of those who are appointed on the sanctioned posts as per rules.
Salary and pension delay a major issue
Delay in salary and pension of professors including teachers and staff in Bihar remains a major issue. Giving information in the Patna High Court, the former Additional Chief Secretary had said that a mechanism is being worked out to ensure regular payment of pension and retirement benefits. It will be streamlined soon. However, so far no updates have been revealed on the system.
