According to the guidelines issued, the maximum permissible weight of the school bag should not exceed 15 percent of the weight of the student. The weight of the bag for class 1-2 children should be 1.5 to 2 kg and the weight of the bag for class 3-5 children should be 2 to 3 kg. The same should be 3 to 4 kg for class 6 to 8 and 4 to 5 kg for class 9 to 10. Apart from this, schools should celebrate ‘No Bag Day’ once a week, it can be celebrated on a Saturday.
