For some time, many such cases are being seen in which people are being cheated. Among these, the case of SIM card fraud has also been in discussions, in which thousands and lakhs of rupees have been cheated with many users.

In view of all these matters, new rules for SIM cards for mobile phones were recently issued by the government. Under this, dealers cannot issue multiple SIMs simultaneously and they must verify each SIM card. Strict action can be taken against the dealer who does not do so. With the new rule, the government has closed several lakh SIM cards and thousands of WhatsApp accounts.

52 lakh sim connections closed

For information, let us tell you that the government has closed 52 lakh phone connection SIM cards. Along with this, thousands of WhatsApp accounts have also been banned. Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav says that 66 thousand WhatsApp accounts have been closed by the government, which came to the fore in cases like fraud.

Nearly 8 lakh bank wallets of scammers also closed

Apart from this, 67 thousand SIM card dealers have also been blacklisted by the government. More than 300 FIRs have been registered against the fraudsters involved. Along with this, 52 lakh mobile phone numbers have also been blocked. Not only this, about 8 lakh bank wallets of scammers have also been closed.

The new rule will be applicable from October 1

The rules issued by the government will be implemented from October 1 this year. Point of sellers will have to register before September 30. Dealers who do not register themselves will have to pay a fine of Rs 10 lakh for selling SIM cards.

Verification will be necessary

It has become necessary for the dealer selling SIM to verify each SIM card. If the dealer is giving a SIM card to someone then it is very important to do its biometric verification.

Along with this, it has also been made mandatory by the government to do police verification. However, the entire responsibility of verification of SIM card sellers has been given to the telecom operators. There is a fine of Rs 10 lakh on those who break the rules.
