New rule related to SIM card

According to TRAI’s new rule, if a number remains switched off for a certain period of time, the mobile operator will deactivate this SIM card. This can help in preventing misuse of SIM. In such a situation, users will now have to use their SIM card daily to prevent it from getting deactivated.

Now users will have to provide valid identity and address certificate to buy a new SIM card. Apart from this, biometric verification can also be used in some cases. This decision of TRAI is related to stopping illegal SIM sales and identifying the right user.

According to the new rules of TRAI, now a person will have a certain limit on the number of SIM cards. This is so that criminals can be prevented from using multiple cards. In such a situation, the customer should know how many SIM cards have been issued in your name.

Apart from this, now prepaid SIM cards will also have to be registered with identity and address proof like postpaid connections. This will prevent misuse of SIM cards.

Some changes can also be made in the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) rules. This means that now after porting the number, users cannot port it to any other telecom operator for seven days. The number can be ported only after 7 days. TRAI has taken this decision to prevent misuse of SIM cards.
