Samsung Mobile Phone High-Risk Warning: The Government of India, through the Computer Emergency Response Team of India (CERT-In), has issued a high-risk warning to Samsung mobile phone users regarding multiple vulnerabilities. In this alert issued by CERT-In Vulnerability Note CIVN-2023-0360, an alert has been issued for Samsung phones which run on Android version 11, 12, 13 and 14.

CERT-In researchers have identified several flaws in Samsung products that pose significant risks. Through these, hackers can bypass the security system of your device, access sensitive information and also enter arbitrary codes on the system. These flaws are affecting the Samsung ecosystem.

Where were these flaws found?  

  • These flaws have been seen in Knox features.
  • Flaws have also been found in facial recognition software.
  • Incorrect data size verification in softsimd library.
  • There are authorization issues in AR Emoji app.
  • Flaws have also been found in the Smart Clip app.

Update Security

Users should immediately update the security updates pushed by Samsung. You can check for updates on your device by going to Settings > Software updates > Downloads and installs.
