We have announced a new operating structure, which re-groups our existing Industry Solutions Unit (ISU) into key business groups along with industry segments, a TCS spokesperson said in a statement. These changes will help us improve our focus on the customer, which is critical to our growth
India’s largest IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched a new operating structure. This is the first major move by CEO Krithivasan after taking charge on June 1. Along with this, the company has also reshuffled its senior leadership. TCS inducted several new senior executives, global heads and veterans who have spent more than 18-30 years with the company. On July 29, the company said that based on discussions with customers and associates over the past few months, TCS will be able to provide better customer offerings by synergizing its domains and knowledge across units.
What did the company spokesperson say?
In a statement, a company spokesperson said, “We have announced a new operating structure, which re-groups our existing Industry Solutions Unit (ISU) into key business groups along with industry segments. These changes reflect our focus on the customer. help us do better, which is critical to our growth.”
Earlier in April 2022, former CEO and MD Rajesh Gopinathan released the company’s re-structuring plan. According to the structure, instead of vertical and geography, the company had divided the customers into four specific business groups based on the journey with them. This became a major bone of contention for the senior leader and the vertical heads.
Moneycontrol had reported that several senior executives were unhappy with the previous group-wise re-structure initiated in April 2022 under former CEO and MD Rajesh Gopinathan. New CEO and MD K Krithivasan also kept his BFSI out of that structure.
The concept of grouping customers based on relationship maturity has been retained in the new plan, but it comes under vertical business groups, said sources in the know of the matter. In addition, there has been a shuffling of responsibilities at the senior level.
These business groups will be included in the new structure
According to an internal memo sent by Krithivasan, the new operating structure will include these business groups – BFSI Americas led by Sushil Vasudevan, BFSI UK, Europe and Australia led by Shankar NS, Communications, Media and Information led by Akhilesh Tiwari Services; Life Sciences led by Debasish Ghosh, Manufacturing led by Anupam Singhal, Retail, CPG, Travel, Transportation and Hospitality led by Krishnan Ramanujam, and Technology, Software and Services under V Rajanna.
All ISU heads will report to the respective business group heads, with no other changes to the ISU structure. All RIG (Relationship Incubation Group) accounts will also be transferred under the appropriate ISU.
