Toll tax collection work will start from today (1 May 2022) on Purvanchal Expressway, the dream project of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. 

On this expressway from Lucknow to Ghazipur, UPDA has made a total of 13 entry/exit points for toll collection. Apart from Mahorakalan of Gosaiganj in Lucknow, there is a big toll plaza in Hydaria of Ghazipur, while there are 11 small toll plazas in the rest of the place. Purvanchal Expressway is 340 km long, which is the largest project made by any government of the country.

25 percent rebate in toll tax will continue on Purvanchal Expressway like Agra-Lucknow Expressway. Whereas toll collection has started after 12 o’clock on Saturday night. On Purvanchal Expressway from Lucknow to Ghazipur car, jeep, van or light motor vehicle will have to pay Rs 675.

Toll tax has been fixed at the rate of Rs 2.45 per kilometer for four wheelers on Purvanchal Expressway. Apart from this, 1065 for mini buses, 2145 for bus or truck, then Rs 3285 for HCM, EMI or multi axle vehicles (3 to 6 axles). At the same time, for an oversized vehicle (7 or more axles), the toll tax will be Rs 4185.

Start the journey from anywhere, but toll will have to be

While the responsibility of collecting toll lies with M/s Prakash Asphalting & Toll Highways India Limited, an agency of Indore. The company had already completed its preparations and has started collecting toll tax from 12 o’clock on the night of 30 April.

Purvanchal Expressway passes through 9 districts of the state

Purvanchal Expressway is 340 km long and passes through nine districts of Uttar Pradesh. This dream project of the UP government is made from the state capital Lucknow to Ghazipur, which passes through Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh and Mau.

Not only this, the country’s longest Purvanchal Expressway, built at a cost of Rs 11216 crore, can be extended to Ballia later. Not only this, Purvanchal Expressway has 22 flyovers, 7 railway overbridges, 7 major bridges, 114 small bridges including 45 vehicle underpasses, 139 small vehicle underpasses and 87 pedestrian underpasses.

Whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Purvanchal Expressway on November 16, 2021, just before the 2022 UP assembly elections. During this, the fighter plane also did landing and take-off on the expressway.
