Toll Tax New Rate: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to increase toll tax rates by an average of 5 percent across the country. From Monday, drivers using highways will have to pay more. Although this increase was to come into effect from April 1, it was postponed due to the Lok Sabha elections.
The new rate has come into effect from today
The annual revision is expected to be in the range of five per cent on an average. A senior NHAI official said, “The new fee will be applicable from June 3.” This change in toll fee is part of the annual process of revising the rates linked to changes in Wholesale Price Index (CPI) based inflation.
There are about 855 toll tax plazas on the National Highway network, where toll tax is levied as per the National Highway Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008.
New rates have been posted
On the national highway, the list of new rates has been put up on Sunday night itself. However, there has been no increase in toll tax for cars, jeeps, vans and light vehicles.
