From September 1, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India is preparing to implement a new rule in the country. This new rule is being brought by TRAI in the series of stopping and eliminating fake and spam calls. The Telecom Department has released a new update on its official X handle. The Telecom Department has given detailed information about the new decisions of TRAI. After the implementation of this rule, the problem of unwanted calls can be got rid of to a great extent. For this, instructions have also been issued to telecom companies by the government.

Let us tell you that the government has been working for a long time to stop fraud through unwanted calls in the telecom sector. This rule issued by TRAI will be implemented from September 1, 2024. Instructions have also been issued by the government to all the telecom companies of the country.

What are the new rules

According to the TRAI report, if someone makes telemarketing calls from his personal mobile number, then the mobile number will be blacklisted for 2 years. Actually, a new mobile number series has been issued by the government for telemarketing. The Department of Telecommunications has started a new 160 number series to prevent financial fraud. In such a situation, the banking and insurance sector will have to make promotional calls and messages from the 160 number series. TRAI had a meeting with telemarketers including telecom service providers Airtel, Jio, BSNL, Vi, MTNL on August 8. In which a guideline has been issued regarding marketing calls and messages.

You will get rid of unwanted calls and messages

After the implementation of the new rule, people will not have to be bothered by unwanted calls and messages. Automatically generated calls/robotic calls and messages have also been included in the new rule. After this action plan of TRAI, unwanted calls and messages will be stopped.

This is how you can complain

According to the data of the Department of Telecommunications, more than 10,000 fraud messages have been sent in the last 3 months. If you receive such messages or calls, you can lodge a complaint on the ‘Sanchar Sathi Portal’. If someone sends you a message from a 10-digit mobile number, you can complain directly on 1909.
