Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for the year 2022-23 in Parliament on Tuesday, in which she made many important announcements. In the budget session, the Finance Minister announced that soon the citizens of India will also be provided with e-passports to travel abroad.
Indian citizens will get e-passports
To do the same thing as ordinary passports, e-passports will be issued to Indian citizens this year which will come with embedded chips and futuristic technology. These e-passports will be fitted with microchips in which the necessary security data will be stored. At present, India gives only printed passports to its citizens.
What are these e-passports
If you are wondering what are these e-passports, then let us tell you that e-passports are not much different from ordinary printed passports, they are more secure than ordinary passports. For this reason, e-passports will keep all the information in a chip that is printed in an ordinary passport, such as your name, your address, your birthday etc.
Features of e-passports
Talking about the features of e-passports, the chip fitted in this passport will store all the information about the person who has this passport. This e-passport will come with 64 kilobytes of storage space and a rectangular antenna which will be embedded in the passport itself. This chip will be fitted on the back of the passport.
Initially, this chip will contain all the information about the first 30 international travels of the passport holder and then later this passport will also contain the photograph of the holder and his biometric information.
Let us tell you that the practice of e-passports is already in 120 countries of the world, which includes Germany, UK and US.
