Ashish Mishra was made the main accused

The Uttar Pradesh Police had on January 3 filed a 5,000-page chargesheet in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. Police had named Ashish Mishra, son of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, as the prime accused in the case.

Eight people were killed on October 3 after violence broke out during protests by UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya that claimed the lives of farmers and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers ahead of a visit to Lakhimpur.

SIT claims – murder was done under a well-planned conspiracy

Of the 8 people who died, 4 were car riders who were part of the convoy of BJP workers who came to welcome the UP minister, 4 others were farmers.

The Special Investigation Team probing the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case had said that the farmers who were protesting were killed as part of a well-planned conspiracy.

In the charge sheet, the police had said that they found during the investigation that Ashish Mishra was present at the spot when the violence took place. A relative of Ashish Mishra was also made an accused in the chargesheet.
