A good news has come out for the people of Mayanagari Mumbai. According to the information, soon the country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train can be run on Mumbai to Delhi route. The work for this is going on in the final stage.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: These days Vande Bharat Express is being operated in different areas of the country. Now increasing the facilities available in this train, a sleeper version train can be run soon. Its prototype is being prepared at the Integral Coach Factory and as soon as it is ready, it can be run on the Mumbai-Delhi route. The work of Mission Raftaar between Mumbai and Delhi is in the final stage, which will be completed in this year.

Such is the mission speed

The travel time between Mumbai to Delhi is 16 hours. Efforts are being made to reduce it to 12 hours. This project was approved in the year 2017-2018. Since then, along with strengthening the bridge and track between Mumbai and Delhi, the work of OHE modernization and installation of armor system and fencing of tracks is being done on the entire route. Under Mission Raftaar, this route is being made capable of running trains at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour.

Where did the project reach

Work is in progress on the 694 km stretch from Mumbai Central to Nagda. Apart from this, 100 km work is also being done between Vadodara to Ahmedabad. Out of 195 km protection wall, 30 km work has been completed. In the 570 km from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, the work of metal barrier fencing has been completed for 474 km. 545 km area is being worked by West Central Railway from Nagda to Mathura. The total cost of this project is estimated to be Rs 2664 crore.

Vande Bharat sleeper train getting ready

ICF had given the contract to make 86 Vande Bharat trains. Out of which there is going to be no sleeper version and their prototype will be prepared as soon as possible. Railway wants to run 400 Vande Bharat trains across the country in the next 4 years. It also includes sitting version to sleeper version and metro version. Tender documents for Vande Bharat Metro version are now being uploaded by Mumbai Rail Vikas Nigam instead of EMU local trains. These trains will run on Rajdhani and Duronto routes.
