Now you will not need expensive packs to send SMS. Actually, Vodafone Idea (Vi) is allowing users to send SMS when they are on talktime pack.
TelecomTalk has given this information in its report, although the company has not yet confirmed this. Actually, Vi offers quite expensive SMS prepaid packs as compared to what Jio and Airtel are offering to their users.
However, this limited the ability of low-income users to send SMS for porting from Wi’s network.
In view of this situation, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had issued an order for operators to allow users to send ported out SMS even if they are not on prepaid pack with SMS benefit.
TelecomTalk in its report said that Vi users on Talktime packs can now send SMS for OTP verification of the bank. The user had recharged with Vi’s Rs 10 prepaid pack and was able to send an SMS to the bank for verification in the Google Pay app. Whether other telcos allow this is still unknown. But it’s a great thing for Vi users.
Will also be able to send regular SMS
The report said that using the recharge of Rs 10, Vi users can also send regular SMS to other users.
This is a positive development and it was necessary for users who had a Wi SIM as a secondary number, but one that they used for bank verification and other things.
With Vodafone Idea, you can get multiple SMS packs starting from Rs.10. With the Rs 10 pack, users get talk time of Rs 7.47.
