FM Nirmala Sitharaman: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government will give subsidy up to eight percent on loans given to artisans under the Vishwakarma scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government will give subsidy up to eight percent on loans given to artisans under the Vishwakarma scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At the event organized to launch the scheme, he said that the government has already made a provision of Rs 13,000 crore in the budget for 2023-24.

Will get collateral free loan

Explaining in detail about Vishwakarma Scheme, the Finance Minister said that artisans will be provided collateral free loan at a very cheap interest rate of five percent. He said that this scheme includes 18 sectors related to carpenters, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, masons, stone sculptors, barbers and sailors. Under this, the government will give loan up to Rs 3 lakh.

You will get a loan of Rs 1 lakh initially

He said that initially a loan of Rs 1 lakh will be given and after repayment for 18 months, the beneficiary will be eligible for an additional Rs 2 lakh.

You will get these facilities

The components of the scheme will include not only financial assistance but also advanced skills training, knowledge of modern digital technology and efficient green technologies, brand promotion, connectivity with local and global markets, digital payments and social security.

Beneficiaries will get daily allowance of Rs 500

He said that each beneficiary will be given skill training for five days along with a daily allowance of Rs 500. Each beneficiary will be identified in a three-tier manner.

Rs 15,000 will be given

The Finance Minister said that apart from this, a grant of Rs 15,000 will be given as toolkit incentive. For digital transactions, an incentive of Re 1 per transaction will be provided for up to 100 transactions in a month. This will greatly benefit the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes (OBC), women and weaker sections.
