The Maruti Suzuki WagonR kicked off 2025 with strong sales, securing its position as the best-selling car in India for January. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta dominated the SUV segment with the highest sales figures for the month.
Among the top ten best-selling cars in January, six were from Maruti Suzuki India, two from Tata Motors, and one each from Hyundai Motor India and Mahindra & Mahindra. The SUV category continued its strong market presence with six models on the list, while three hatchbacks and one sedan also made the cut.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR achieved its highest-ever January sales with 24,078 units, followed by the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, which continued its impressive performance with 19,965 units sold.
The Hyundai Creta also posted record-breaking monthly domestic sales of 18,522 units, driven by the introduction of its electric variant. Maruti Suzuki Swift and Tata Punch followed closely, with sales figures of 17,081 units and 16,231 units, respectively.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara saw strong demand, recording 15,784 units in January, just ahead of the Mahindra Scorpio, which registered 15,442 units.
Tata Nexon secured 15,397 units, while the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the only sedan in the top ten, recorded 15,383 units. Rounding off the list, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx continued its steady sales run with 15,192 units.
