Due to heavy rains and waterlogging, the administration declared holiday in schools today in several districts including Madurai, Theni, Dindukkal, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Tiruppur and Coimbatore districts, as well as four taluks of Nilgiris district.

Rainfall forecast at different places:
The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) here has predicted heavy rain at different places in the state. Kotagiri in Nilgiri district recorded the highest rainfall of 228 mm. Due to incessant rains on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway line, landslides were reported at about five places, due to which the mountain train service was cancelled.
The northeast monsoon is active across Tamil Nadu.
Landslides also occurred in Kotagiri, affecting road traffic and resulting in traffic being diverted from Coonoor to Mettupalayam. According to RMC, Tenkasi, Theni, Dindukkal, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Tiruvannayalai and Tiruvallur districts received moderate rain and thundershowers. Northeast Monsoon is active across the state and Chennai and surrounding areas have also received rain.
Chances of rain in many states
According to media reports, there may be clouds with fog in Delhi today i.e. on Thursday. The minimum temperature of Delhi can be 16 degrees and the maximum temperature can be 31 degrees Celsius. According to Skymet Weather, there may be light to moderate rain in Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Karnataka.
Whereas light to moderate rain is possible in Telangana, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Konkan and Goa and Central Maharashtra. Light rain and snowfall is possible in the Western Himalayas. There may be light rain in Northeast India.
