5G smartphones will be in good demand in the Indian market next year. In the year 2021, about 10% of phones sold in the market will support 5G connectivity. This is said by market experts. According to experts, 3 million 5G smartphones were shipped in the year 2020, which is 2% of the total smartphones sold. Apart from this, mobile phone users will have more options of 5G smartphones for less than Rs 20,000.

5G may get faster pace from the year 2022

Market intelligence firm Cybermedia Research (CMR) has estimated about 11 million 5G smartphone shipments in 2021. At the same time, the analysis firm TechArc estimates that 5G shipments could be in the range of 10-15 million. This will be about 9 percent of the overall market. According to Canalys, 5G phone sales in the year 2021 can be 4.5 percent, its shipment can be 79 lakh units. However, the pace of 5G adoption is expected to pick up in the year 2022. The shipment is estimated to be 2.33 crore in 2022 and 10.56 crore units in 2023. Prabhu Ram, head of the Industry Intelligence Group at CMR, says that in 2021, smartphone OEMs will take aggressive steps to gain leadership positions in the 5G smartphone market.

Xiaomi will bring 5G phones from Vivo to OnePlus

The first phase of 5G phone launches in India was seen in February this year. However, it was priced above Rs 30,000. The penetration of 5G phones this year is about 3% of the overall market. But, next year, big brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Realme, OnePlus and Samsung are going to launch many affordable models of 5G phones. As such, customers will have wider options.

According to Ram of CMR, 5G smartphones will be more economical due to the availability of more affordable 5G components. It would not be surprising if new 5G smartphones in the value-for-money smartphone segment break the Rs 15,000 price mark.
