Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections 2022, the Union Cabinet has approved a bill on electoral reforms, which includes doing away with multiple nominations for linking of voter ID with Aadhaar on a voluntary basis.
For example, a person has a name in the voter list of his village and has been living in the city for a long time. Then he has got his name marked in both the city and village and is voting in both the places, but only one voter’s name will be able to be in the voter list at one place as soon as it is linked with Aadhaar. Now that person will be able to vote only at one place.
According to the bill, the electoral law for service voters will also be made gender neutral. One can link his Aadhaar with Voter ID card by visiting the booth level officials through National Voters Service Portal SMS or phone.
How to link Aadhaar with Voter ID card through National Voters’ Service Portal:
Step 1: Go to https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/
Step 2: Login through the portal using Mobile Number, Email ID, Voter ID Number and Enter Password.
Step 3: Now enter the state, district and personal details like name, date of birth and father’s name.
Step 4: Now click on the search button, if the details entered are correctly matched with the database of the government, so that the details appear on the screen.
Step 5: Tap on ‘Feed Aadhaar Number’ option which is available on the left side of the screen.
Step 6: A pop-up page will appear for filling the name as on Aadhar Card, Aadhar Number, Voter ID Number, Registered Mobile Number and/or Registered Email Address.
Step 7: After mentioning all the details, cross-check the data once and click on submit button.
Step 8: Finally a message will be shown on the screen that the application has been successfully registered.

Step 1: You can also call the call center to link Aadhaar with your voter ID.
Step 2: Dial 1950 from 10 AM to 5 PM on working days of the week.
Step 3: Share your Voter ID card number and Aadhaar number to link it.
Link Aadhaar with Voter ID by contacting Booth Level Officers:
Step 1: Share an application with the nearest booth level office.
Step 2: The booth officer will cross-check the details and will visit your place of residence for further verification.
Step 3: Once done, it will be shown in the record.
How to check Aadhaar status to link with your Voter ID:
Step 1: Go to https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/
Step 2: Enter the information present in the ‘Seeding through NVSP portal’.
Step 3: A notification will appear regarding the request being registered and processed.
Step 4: The official website will be displayed at https://uidai.gov.in/ to verify whether your Aadhaar is linked with Voter ID or not.
