Google Bans All Call Recording Apps From Play Store: Google last month announced a ban on all call recording apps from the Play Store. The change in Play Store policy has come into effect from today i.e. May 11. There will be no change for phones that come with inbuilt call recording feature. The Cupertino-based tech giant has been against call recording apps and services fo

r several years now. This is because the company believes that recording calls is a violation of the privacy of the users.

Third party apps banned

Because of that, the call recording feature on Google’s own dialer app comes with “This call is now being recorded” alert, clearly audible on both sides before the recording starts. Google has clarified that the change will only affect third party apps.

This means call recording on Google Dialer will work even if it is available on your device or region. It also clarifies that any preloaded dialer app with call recording feature will work perfectly fine. Only apps with call recording feature available on Google Play store will be banned.

Truecaller removes call recording feature

A day after Google announced the ban on call recording apps, Truecaller revealed the removal of call recording feature from its platform. A Truecaller spokesperson said, ‘We are no longer able to offer call recording. It will not affect those devices which have call recording feature in the device.

Call record can be done with these smartphones

Truecaller said that this will not affect handsets that have built-in call recording. Some smartphone makers including Xiaomi, Samsung, OnePlus and Oppo include a built-in call recorder capability that will continue to work after May 11.
